Didem Balçın

Didem BalçınDidem Balçın, born on May 18th, 1982 in Ankara, Turkey is a Turkish actress who shot to stardom after appearing in the films Full of Hunger and Dance with Jackals.

She graduated from Ankara University School of Literature, History and Geography with a degree in theatre studies.

After graduating, she came to Istanbul and took part in various Television series and commercials.

One of her first was a part in the play "Where the Fire Falls" at the Levent Kırca Theatre. In 2009, she founded her own theater with Nergis Öztürk.

She shared the Lions Best Comedy Actress award with her partner for her comedy play "Two People Who Did It". ( Bunu Yapan İki Kişi )

The successful actress, who took part in many theater plays in the following years, founded Doda Art Education Consultancy Production Company with her older sister Özlem Kunduracı in 2011.

Her father works at TRT Radio and her mother, Nur Balçın, represented Turkey in a beauty contest organized by Japan back in 1975. Her maternal family is of Turkish and Albanian descent.

She has also acted in many films and TV series such as "Çakallarla Dans: Sifir Sikinti" in 2014, "Oflu Hoca'nin Sifresi" in 2014 "Gulyabani" in 2014, "Dirilis: Ertugrul" television series during 2014 through 2016.

Didem BalçınDidem was in "Çakallarla Dans 2: Hastasiyiz Dede" in 2012, "Açliga Doymak" in 2012, "Göl zamani" in 2013, "Firar" in 2011, "Çikis Noktasi" in 2010, and "Kadinlari Anlama Kilavuzu" in 2010.

She played the role of Selcan Hatun in the immensely popular television series, Diriliş Ertuğrul and in Kuruluş: Osman.[

Didem shared in an Instagram post that she thanked her entire team from Diriliş Ertuğrul when her journey came to an end.

She left a powerful impression as Selcan Hatun in the historical drama about the beginnings of the Ottoman Empire.

Ertugrul fans will always recognize her by the name of Selcan because of the outstanding performance she delivered as one of the major characters in the series.

Didem Balçın has played this role, which is still very much alive in the new spin-off Kurlus: Usman as well. Didem has played this role with such a forceful and convincing way that one can’t separate the two from each other.

"When Resurrection Ertuğrul started 6 years ago, I had no similar aspects with Selcan Hatun. But six years have passed, Selcan has gone a long way."

"Again, we do not have many similarities in character, but we have a common aspect. She and I learned to analyze people well. Unfortunately, we look forward very patiently. And if we trust, we will be with you until the end.

Didem BalçınIt's a big chance that I got this role. Unlike other players, my luck is that I am always on this long road and I don't really experience the stages.

I grew up when Selcan was growing. On this long road, we took out the character together. Now it's part of me. I researched that period of history a lot and thought very much about the 'what's and why's' of everything Selcan did in every scene."

It is still challenging role and requires work, but it was not arbitrary. It was a very special role and is my favourite character that I've gotten to play so far.

"Was it a turning point in my career? The answer to this question so far was to win the exams of TRT Ankara radio when I was 6 years old."

"Because if I am an actor today and this profession is my lifes purpose, it was my turning point to win that first exam. Now my second turning point was my marriage - having realized the marriage I dreamed of in my family."

"It was a bit cruel to dream of having a wedding during the middle of the pandemic. All I and Can Aydın wanted was to be a family and have our home."

"If we waited for this pandemic to pass, we would still not be able to get married. Our plans were already getting married in June. When we realized that we could not do this as we imagined in April, we got married with the minimum possible organization."

"Our loved ones watched us from Zoom. Only our family and our witnesses were with us, but we had an unforgettable day."

Didem Balçın"Once again, we have seen that the only thing that matters is love."

"Although we were with very few people, we took every precaution. It's been two months now and when I look back, I say it was a "Good thing".

"I try to always take care to create time for myself - whether I am full or not. Watching a movie or TV show with my husband, going to a place we love and being with our friends. This is the time I spend with him."

"What I like most when spending time alone is my beauty and care rituals that I could not do during the busy set period."

"Walking, yoga, meditation are activities that relax me. I also have an avid interest in everything that is organic."

"I make my own care products. Everything is natural. My skincare is eyebrow-eyelash oil. I develop natural things for my hair. By doing all this, one might say that I am charging myself - like an empty battery."

"When the battery is recharged, I come up with a new idea and am excited to produce it. I think about with whom we can do this, and then I get into the intensity again. So I'm getting busy again. This motivates me too."

"Summer is excitement and happiness for me. Like being happy for no reason. That tingling effect in the abdomen makes me feel the same effect on a mildly inspired summer day. Summer is hope and time for me to look at life again. Yes, I'm a summer person."

Didem BalçınIn her heart touching Instagram post Didem remarked:

"It was always beautiful and every moment was very precious for me. My dearest instructors, @metingunay, @ahmt20082009, @fethibayram the whole screenplay group with @bozdagfilm had words that mirror Selcan."

"@aslizeyneppekerbozdag, who has touched Selcan’s scenes with the same feelings for years, behind the camera.

My deep greetings to the whole team and my fellow players who played with their hearts - and all the applause to our producer @mehmetbozdag who made this dream come true."

"My dearest audiences, always be there for me with your comments, your appreciation, and your support.

I’m leaving the fields for a while for a very precious little one - Until I see you again. Goodbye."

Didem as Selcan Hatun is very famous not only in her own country but across the border also.

The Pakistani people loved her character so much that she has a separate fan base in Pakistan.

Didem BalçınDidem Balçın and Turkish actor Can Aydın were engaged in March 2020. The couple got married in May 2020.

Their first child, a son name Alican, was born in April 2021. Balçın, gave birth in a private hospital in Maslak where she announced that they had named their baby 'Alican'.

Pakistani fashion designer, Maria. B, signed Ertugrul-famed Didem Balçın as a model and muse for upcoming winter collection and many of the cast from Ertugrul did the same.

Two of Ertugrul’s leading stars, Cengiz Coskun and Nurettin Sonmez, who played Turgut Alp and Bamsi Alp on the show, have signed endorsement deals with Pakistan’s leading brand, Junaid Jamshed, J.

Turkish actress Burcu Kiratli, also of Ertugrul fame, dazzled in her latest photo-shoot for Pakistani designer Ali Zeeshan. She wore traditional Pakistani dresses, including bridal wear, for the photo-shoot from the designer’s collection.

Cavit Cetin Guner, who played Dogan Alp, visited Pakistan earlier this month and struck a brand endorsement deal with construction company Blue World City.

Engin Altan Duzyatan, who so brilliantly portrayed the lead character of Ertugrul is expected to visit Pakistan later this month. Meanwhile, Esra Bilgic (Halime Hatun) , is working with Pakistan’s leading cellular network, Jazz 4G.

Didem BalçınThese brilliant actors whose stellar performances made Diriliş Ertuğrul the most watched television series in Turkish history certainly deserve the added recognition and renumeration for their amazing performances.

Didem also has 1.3 million followers on Instagram.

Three Monkies

Three Monkeys is such an excellent film on so many levels. Raises fundamental moral questions, but does so without 'preaching'. Despite the somewhat serious mood and substantial content, remains highly watchable and enjoyable throughout. Beautifully made, on both sides of the camera. And best of all, there are enough layers there to warrant watching several times. Overall very impressive and a prime example of modern Turkish cinema!

People below have commented that there are no subtitles. But if you hit language to on and subtitles to off you get subtitles. Then you can watch a great film. Amazing film from a brilliant director. He has won Best Director in Cannes three years in a row. The Turkish film and television industry has become a breeding ground of brilliant talent and stunning productions.

The highly acclaimed, award-winning Turkish film, Distant is a deeply compassionate and frequently amusing study of quiet desperation, prompting many critics to favorably compare writer-director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's subtly hypnotic drama to the films of Ozu and Tarkovsky. Muzaffer Özdemir and Mehmet Emin Toprak shared Best Actor honors at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival for their perfectly nuanced performances as (respectively) divorced, 40-something photographer Mahmut and his distant relative Yusef, who arrives in Istanbul looking for work, and quickly wears out his welcome. With understated humor, Ceylan observes Mahmut and Yusef's chronic isolation, but he never passes judgment. Distant could've been made anywhere and it would yield the same visually seductive study of detachment.

The Turkish television and motion picture industry has come of age and is producing films and television series that are some of the best in the world. Even with having to read subtitles for non-Turkish speakers, the films and series are simply amazing productions with excellent cast and crews.
