Pınar Saka

Pınar SakaPınar Saka, born on November 5th, 1985 in Üsküdar, Istanbul, Turkey.

Saka is a Turkish female track athlete in the sprint discipline competing in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and 400 meter relay. She is the Turkish national record holder for 400 meters.

She studied international business at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the USA on an NCAA scholarship. She later did her MBA degree at Bogazici University in Istanbul.

The 163 cm (5 ft 4 in) tall athlete at 53 kg (117 lb) is a member of Enkaspor in Istanbul, where she is coached by Öznur Dursun.

Pınar Saka participated at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería, Spain in the categories 4x100 meter relay, 400 meter and 4x400 meter relay.

She won a bronze medal in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:40.75 with her teammates Birsen Bekgöz, Özge Gürler and Binnaz Uslu.

Pınar SakaIn 2011 Saka won the silver medal at the 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen together with a team consisting of Nagihan Karadere, Merve Aydın and Meliz Redif, clockıng the time 3.31.05.

Saka qualified for participation in the 400 meter event at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Pinar Saka was accustomed to a big stage. A two-time national champion sprinter for the University of Nebraska track and field team, Saka was an eight-time All-American for the University of Nebraska Mavericks.

She had helped them to conference championships and top-five finishes in NCAA Championships.

She also ran in European Championships and World Championships. But she performed on the biggest athletics stage of all in 2012 when she competed for her native Turkey at the Olympic Summer Games in London.

And she made history doing so. Saka, a native of Istanbul, became the first woman from Turkey to compete in the 400 meters in the Olympics.

She ran a time of 52.38, finishing 25th overall in a field where the top 24 advanced.

Pınar SakaSaka, who set the University of Nebraska indoor and outdoor 400 meters record in 2009 when she was named the nation's track athlete of the year, also ran the lead leg of Turkey's 4x400 meter relay, posting the fastest split among her teammates.

Turkey finished last among the 16 teams in the preliminaries, but Saka's Olympics experience was good as gold.

"The people's cheers, especially in the first 100 meters, made me feel like these people came there only for me," she said. She felt like she had the stage all to herself.

Saka's performance was highly anticipated among the names of competitors participating in the Survivor 2017 reality television competition.

National athlete Pınar Saka is an athlete who has achieved serious success on behalf of the Turkish Republic.

Pınar Saka was sanctioned in 2013 as a result of abnormalities detected in her biological passport.

She was disqualified from 18 June 2010 and got three years ineligibility ending 23 May 2015.
