Birsen Bekgöz, born October 18th, 1980 in Berlin, Germany is a Turkish female track and field athlete competing in sprinting events.

She is the youngest in a family of five and the only female. Her parents moved the family to Berlin, Germany from Ankara, Turkey.

After finishing high-school in Berlin she returned to Turkey whereshe competed for the Turkish National Team from the Hacettepe University School of Physical Education and Sports.

Bekgöz is a member of Enkaspor athletics team as well as being a graduate of Eastern Mediterranean University in Northern Cyprus.

She competed in the 200 meters, 400 meters hurdles, 4x100 meters flag and 4x400 meters flag races in Mediterranean Games held in 2005 in Almeria, Spain.

At the Islamic Games, she won gold with the 4x100 meters flag team and a silver medal with the 4x400 meters flag team.

Birsen BekgözBekgöz is the 400 meter record holder in Turkey.

Along with team-mates, Libby Curler, Pinar Saka and Binnaz Birsen she won the bronze medal in the 4x400 meter relay in 2012 at the Olympic Games held in London.

Bekgöz is a World and European Championships Competitor in the 400 meters, 4x100 meters relay and 4x400 meters relay.

She started her athletics career in Ankara and later became a member of the club Bursa Nilüfer Belediyespor.

During her time at the Eastern Mediterranean University in Nicosia, she ran for Northern Cyprus.

She participated at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería, Spain in the 200 meters, 400 meters hurdles, 4x100 meters relay and the 4x400 meters relay races.

She ran for a bronze medal with her teammates Özge Gürler, Pınar Saka and Binnaz Uslu in the 4x400 meters relay.

She won the silver medal in the 4x400 meters relay event with her teammates Özge Akın, Esma Aydemir and Sema Apak at the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Palembang, Indonesia.

Birsen BekgözIn 2018 she joined the volunteer team of the television show Survivor - the reality show competition produced by Acun Ilıcalı in Turkey.

The show began on February 10th, 2018 and she will compete against Adem Kiliçci, Damla Can, Hakan Hatipoglu, Hilmi Cem İntepe, Merve Aydin, Murat Ceylan, Nagihan Karadere, Nihat Doğan, Sahra Işik, Sema Aydemir, Turabi Çamkiran and Ümit Karan.

She is one of the strongest contenders, but this week she was among the candidates for elimination by her teammates.

Bekgöz has become one of the most attention-grabbing social media darlings among the 2018 contestants after being announced.

This athlete contestant who expressed her determination much the same as she did on the national team winning medals many times until now.

She has been married twice - her first married name was Yavuz and her latest married name is Engin.

There is little to no information about her second marriage. Bekgöz has not done any sharing about her newest husband in her Instagram account, Facebook page or any other social media. It is a subject of curiosity in Turkey.

She has a daughter named Vera who is nine years old and her husband has a son from a previous marriage.
