Elsa Pataky

Elsa PatakyElsa Pataky, born on the 18th of July 1976 in Madrid, Spain is a Spanish model, actress, and film producer. She is the daughter of José Francisco Lafuente, a Spanish biochemist, and Cristina Pataky Medianu, a publicist of Romanian and Hungarian descent. Her mother's surname Pataky is Hungarian and means - someone who lived near a creek.

Pataky went to school at CEU San Pablo University, where she studied journalism and took acting classes. In addition to speaking her native Spanish, Pataky is fluent in English, Romanian, Italian and French. She enjoys roller blading, snowboarding, and riding horses.

She has always wanted to be an actress:

"I decided to be an actress because of my grandfather who was a theatre actor in Romania, so I was play acting since I was like five years old. I was playing with him: he would play the bad role, and I would be the princess always. I discovered that that was his work actually, that he was doing it in life, and I was always thinking:

'My dad goes to the office every day and he hates it. The job of my grandfather is just playing with me, like doing roles, like the princess.'

He would be the prince, he would be the bad guy or the dragon, and I liked it so much, that ever since then I was like:

'I wanna be like my grandfather. I wanna do what he does.'"

Elsa PatakyBut she followed the urging of her father and studied journalism at the University of San Pablo in Madrid, but at the same time attended some acting classes and soon became a member of the Teatro Cámara de Ángel Gutiérrez - a theater company in Madrid. She stopped attending school when she was cast in the television series Al salir de clase.

After her career began, a number of her films were co-productions with the British and French , which introduced her to working in English and French. She was in the cast of the television series Queen of Swords in 2000 as Señora Vera Hidalgo, trophy wife of Gaspar Hidalgo and mistress of Captain Grisham, credited in the opening titles but appearing in only 14 of the 22 episodes.

She also had a recurring role in the television series Los Serrano, playing teacher Raquel, who fell in love with her student. She debuted in 1997 in the movie Solo en la Buhardilla by Miguel Ángel Rodríguez de Cía, but she gained notoriety with her roles in the tv shows La vida en el aire and Al salir de clase.

In 2000 she had a role in El arte de morir by Álvaro Fernández Armero, and in many other movies and telvision shows; in 2005 she played the role of the protagonist in Ninette by José Luis Garci, which brought her international fame. She debuted in a Hollywood movie in 2006 with Snakes on a Plane., where she acted with Samuel L. Jackson; she also played in Manuale d'Amore 2 by Giovanni Veronesi and in Giallo by Dario Argento. Other movies include DiDi Hollywood by Bigas Luna, Mr Nice by Bernard Rose, Where the Road Meets the Sun by Mun Chee Yong. She was chosen by Woody Allen for Midnight in Paris.

Elsa PatakyPataky has appeared in over 10 Spanish film productions and co-starred in the French film Iznogoud in 2004, as well as being cast in 2009 in the Mexican series Mujeres Asesinas as Paula Moncada in the episode Ana y Paula, Ultrajadas. She also starred in the action noir film Give 'Em Hell, Malone and Dario Argento's Giallo.

She played Officer Elena Neves in the movie Fast Five, with Dwayne Johnson as her partner. MTV Networks' NextMovie.com named her one of the Breakout Stars to Watch for in 2011. Pataky was a stand in for Natalie Portman in the post end credit scene in Thor: The Dark World.

She was also on the cover of August 2006 issue of Maxim Magazine and Pataky became the female face for the first collection of Time Force's jewelry line Ultimate Jewel, opposite soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pataky's unique mix of Spanish and Romanian beauty landed her on the cover of multiple magazines, including the Spanish versions of Gentlemens Quarterly, Cosmopolitan, and Marie Claire.

Pataky began dating American actor Adrien Brody in 2006, and for Pataky's 31st birthday in July 2007, Brody purchased her a 19th century castle in New York state. Pataky and Brody were featured at their New York home in a 35-page spread for HELLO! Magazine in October 2008, but they broke up in 2009, and afterwards Pataky dated French actor Olivier Martinez later that year.

Elsa PatakyShe then began dating Australian actor Chris Hemsworth in early 2010, after they met through their mutual representatives. Pataky and Hemsworth were married during the Christmas holidays in 2010 and their daughter, India Rose Hemsworth, was born in May 2012 in London, England. In January 2014, Hemsworth announced that he and Pataky were expecting twins.

In September 2012, Pataky won €310,000 in Spain's supreme court against publishing group Ediciones Zeta. In March 2007, Interviu Magazine, owned by the Zeta, published topless photos of Pataky that had been taken with a long lens while Pataky was changing clothes during a topless photoshoot for Elle Magazine in which her hands were covering her breasts.

The Zeta group said it would appeal the decision.

The beautiful Spanish actress and her husband Chris Hemsworth are now expecting two beautiful babies this spring. Pataky, who looks phenomenal at 37 years of age, due to give birth to twins in the Spring of 2014 is already a parent to daughter India Rose, aged 20 months.

"She's almost walking, and she says, 'mama' and 'papa,'" Pataky bragged about her little girl back in June of 2013.

"She loves being at the beach. And she loves little dogs and all animals."

Elsa PatakyHer husband Chris Hemsworth, has said fatherhood is:

"the greatest thing he has ever been a part of." In an interview with Parade last October, he revealed that he thinks about his daughter nonstop when he's not with her.

"I think parenthood brings out the child in all of us," he said.

"That's what's so beautiful. It reminds you of the fascination you had with things, and how you can spend hours just being with someone. It's amazing."
