International Antalya Sand Sculpture Festival - 2012, 2013 and 2014

The annual International Antalya Sand Sculpture Festival (Turkish: Uluslararası Antalya Kum Heykel Festivali0 is a massive exhibition of sand sculptures put together each year at Lara Beach in Antalya by Global Design Art Works. The International Antalya Sand Sculpture Festival is considered to be one of the largest sand sculpting events anywhere in the world. The Festival theme changes each year and the exhibition is attended by thousands of visitors every year. The Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, the Antalya Promotion Foundation, the Antalya Journalists Association and many other agencies and organizations support the festival. Sand sculptors from all over the the world join in each summer to give form to 10,000 tons of sand covering an area of 7,000 square meters.

The theme of the festival for 2012 was Hollywood 2. Festival visitors got to see memorable Hollywood movie stars and film characters portrayed in sand sculptures at the exhibition. The theme for 2013 was Empires. It ran from 1 June 2013 until the official closing ceramony on 15 November 2013. The theme for the 8th Annual International Antalya Sand Sculpture Festival 2014 is Empires II and runs from May 1 through November 30 2014. More information for the 2014 Festival can be found at www.larasandland.com The festival also provides an entertaining dimension with an added space for sand sculpture activities. Each day the adults, teens and children in attendance may experience and show their creative abilities at sand sculpture. At nighttime an LED lightning system lends a colorful athmosphere to the exhibition area. Beside this visitors can watch a festival documentary DVD on the SineVision system during the evening. The festival area also offers different open air activities such as an open air bowling platform, mini-children's playground, mini golf, a giant chess board, ATV safaris, parasailing, tandem paramotor trips (ultralight) and other fun for a very memorable experience.

Tickets for adults are 8 Turkish Lira and the price of admission for children is 4 Turkish Lira. Festival tickets can purchased at the entrance to the festival. The festival hours were daily from 10:00 until 23:00 from the 1st of June through the 15th of November 2013. In case of bad weather conditions exhibitions may be closed temporarily. Available at the festival is a cafeteria and official festival souvenir shops. The festival is conducted at SANDLAND which is located in Lara - Antalya between Örnekköy - Kundu Tourism Region.

How to reach Sandland?

From the Antalya city center there are 2 ways to get to Sandland.

1) - Seaside Road: From Örnekköy - Sera Hotel go straight ahead about 4 kilometers by the seaside road and Sandland is next to Number 9 - Mimoza Beach.
2) - Tourism Road: Enter the Tourism Road (Tourism Road goes to Kundu Region from the Antalya city center) and go straight ahead about 4 1/2 kilometers. Turn right by the sign of (TRT) and follow the directions to Sandland. (Next to Number 10 Lazio Beach-Sandland is located about 500 meters ahead of the TRT Camp)

From the Kundu Tourism Region.

Take the Tourism Road past the Barut Hotel about 1 kilometer and turn left by the sign (TRT) and follow the directions to Sandland (Next to Number 10 Lazio Beach)
