Gümüşlük - Turkey Gümüşlük
Gümüşlük is a seaside village and fishing port in Turkey located in the Bodrum Province. It is situated on the ruins of the ancient city of Myndos and the remains of the foundations of buildings can be easily seen in the knee deep water that leads from the middle of the two bays to Rabbit Island (Turkish: Asar Adasi).

The hillsides around the Gümüşlük Bay area are protected against future development, and different from many other holiday destinations, it has not been overbuilt. The island has ancient building ruins scattered around dating back to the Hellenistic era and offers a panoramic view of Gümüşlük cove and the beach.

There is more to Gümüşlük than just the small area near Rabbit Island as the actual village stretches further inland. The Gümüşlük Belediyesi was established in 1999 and since 2004, the village has played host to the Gümüşlük International Classical Music Festival. This festival is held between July and September each year and is organized by the Bodrum Classical Music Association.

This annual festival is hosted in the Antique Stone Quarry in Koyunbaba Mevkii, Gümüşkaya Sitesi, Gümüşlük where King Mausolos collected the stones for both his palace and his Mausoleum. The festival began in 2004 as a series of concerts and has grown to be a meeting place for internationally renowned musicians and up-and-coming performers. It was the brainchild of Mesut Pekergin and is now run by Eren Levendoğlu, a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Gülsin Onay, one of Turkey's most famous living pianists is the artistic advisor. The concerts are held in the 250 year old church, in nearby hotels and restaurants and various venues around the Bodrum peninsula. The festival also encompasses an annual masterclass programme at Gümüşlük Music Academy and the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Piano Competition since 2012.

There are three mosques in Gümüşlük. One near the harbour, one in the central village area, and one half way between the two adjacent to Kadri Özsarı Parkı. There is a weekly market (Turkish: pazar) held every Wednesday, adjacent to Kadri Özsarı Parkı. This market sells local seasonal produce, dairy goods, traditional clothes, textiles and housewares.
