Ekinçik Ekinçik is a village on a cove with several anchorages and a few pensions and restaurants. It is the most convenient place to stay for visiting the nearby delta in Dalyan. Up river is the ancient city of Kaunus, the picturesque village of Dalyan, and the green Köycegiz Lake - Turkish: Köycegiz Golü. Ekinçik is located on the western entry cape of the inlet of Ekinçik Bay which is surrounded by mountains covered with green pine forests. A cooperative of boats incorporated by the villagers of Ekinçik will take you from your sailboat and transport you to Dalyan or to the ruins of Kaunos. Drop anchor in the part where there are motorboats along the wide sand beach, and there is also a private yacht club opposite the lighthouse. The large boats that start from Marmaris for daily excursions cannot go past the island called Delik where the Dalyan Delta meets the sea, and the transportation on to Caunos from there is made by means of smaller motorboats through a channel which is very shallow. Returning after having walked among the ruins of Kaunos and visiting the healing mud baths will be an unforgettable experience. From Ekincik is a trail that goes over the mountains and down into Candir next to the ancient city of Kaunos. It is about a 2 to 2 1/2 hour trek with spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea. From one vantage point at an old cemetary on top of the mountain it is possible to see the Island of Rhodes in the distance on a clear day. The drive from Köycegiz to Ekinçik is on a highway that offers spectacular views prior to descending down to the village.
