Anna Selezneva

Anna SeleznevaAnna Selezneva (Russian: Анна Селезнёва) born on the 29th of July 1990, in Moscow, Russia is a very successful Russian fashion model.

Anna was born to a Russian father and an Armenian mother. She was discovered in 2007 at a McDonald's restaurant.

"A young man came up to me and asked me: Do I want to become a model?" The agent's suggestion was serious and Anna agreed - two months later she left for Paris and began to appear at shows and in no time at all became one of the most popular young models.

Definitely among the most beautiful models to ever walk a runway.

Later in 2007 she began her international modeling career after signing with this agency in Paris.

At the spring 2008 ready-to-wear shows in Paris, Selezneva debuted on the runways of Dries van Noten, Céline, and Akris.

Then she went on to walk for all the major brands and designers, including Alexander Wang, Balmain, Chanel, Christian Dior, Diane von Furstenberg, Dolce & Gabbana, Elie Saab, Emanuel Ungaro, Fendi, Giambattista Valli, Gianfranco Ferre, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Hermès, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, Roberto Cavalli, Valentino, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent and many others.

Anna SeleznevaAs you can see, Anna had burst onto the fashion scene like a comet and had became a highly successful model in a very short period of time.

Selezneva graced the covers of many international fashion magazines like Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia, Vogue Spain, Vogue Russia, Vogue Australia, Vogue Japan, Vogue China, Vogue Mexico, Vogue Thailand.

She did covers for Numéro, Numéro TOKYO, Allure (Russia), Harper's Bazaar (Germany, Korea), Elle (Spain, Argentina), Interview (Germany), Tatler (Russia), Magazine Antidote, MIXT(E), S Moda, V Magazine.

She has also appeared in editorials in American Vogue, British Vogue, Vogue Germany, i-D, Harper's Bazaar, Muse Magazine, Self Service, The Last Magazine, Glamour (Russia) and Porter Magazine.

Selezneva has appeared in advertising campaigns for Beymen Club, Blumarine, Calvin Klein Collection, Cesare Paciotti, Emporio Armani, Fay, Guerlain «Aqua Allegoria» fragrance, Hogan, Hunkydory, John Galliano (eyewear), Joop! Jeans, Juicy Couture, Mango, Marc O'Polo, Massimo Dutti, Moussy, Phi, Pierre Balmain, Pinko, Ralph Lauren, Replay, Santa Lolla, Santoni, System, Tory Burch, Trussardi, Vera Wang «Look» fragrance, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent «Elle Shocking» fragrance.

Vogue Paris even declared Selezneva one of the top 30 models of the 2000s and she is currently ranked as one of the Money Girls by models.com.

Anna SeleznevaSelezneva has an undergraduate degree in Psychology, has studied at the Marangoni Fashion Institute in Paris and plans to further her studies when her modeling career slows down enough for her to persue it.

Anna lives between Paris and Moscow. "My family is in Moscow - I got married two years ago in Vail, Colorado and my husband is now in Moscow, too.

That’s why I go back; otherwise I would be living in Paris full time. Moscow is beautiful but the climate is quite rough. Paris is more intimate and sunny."

In my mind, my childhood was fabulous. But looking back, I realize how dangerous it was. I was born and grew up in Moscow during the period when the Soviet Union was falling apart in Russia, and there was a lot of crime everywhere.

"The success I have had has come as a big surprise to me. Honestly, I don’t think I was really expecting anything from modeling - and that’s probably one of the reasons why I have succeeded. I was just thinking that at least I’m going to see Paris, because I’d never been there before."

"I almost completely burned out a few years ago, so I took some time off and, after spending one or two months with my family in Moscow, I realized that I missed it."

"I love modeling but it’s not always easy. When you start working a lot and you have to switch countries three times a week - on a physical level it gets tough, and then you can have difficulty separating the physical from the mental."

Anna Selezneva"I have slowed down considerably since I got married. Now I do one, maybe two shoots a month."

"But I really do love fashion, so if I’m ever going to leave modeling, then I'd need to be around fashion in some other way, because I find it such an inspiration."

"I danced classical ballet when I was a young girl and I got back into it two years ago; I have two teachers – one in Moscow and one in Paris."

"I also go to the gym, do functional training - Pilates and yoga. I really enjoy the ballet, but for the other stuff I have to push myself to do it. I know I will feel better after I’ve done it, but it’s hard to motivate myself."

"About 90 per cent of what I eat is vegan or vegetarian, and I usually try to avoid eating very much processed food. But on the other hand, I can eat pizza at midnight and go to bed with no problems. I wouldn’t feel guilty."

"Balmain is like my family. During my first fashion week, back in 2007 or 2008, when Christophe Decarnin was designing there, I went for a casting and they let me open the show."

"At that time, there were just 20 girls in the whole show, and they were the best, best models I could imagine – I couldn’t believe it. It was a big push for my career."

Anna Selezneva"Then I opened for another two seasons and closed it for two after that. Olivier [Rousteing, the house’s current creative director] is a nice, lovely, crazy guy, and we’ve worked a lot together."

"Even though I haven’t walked for anyone else recently, I’ve still walked for Balmain the past few seasons."

"The modeling industry has changed quite a bit since I started. It’s like another world now that social media has taken over; now they’re calling the girls for casting based on their followers on Instagram."

"I’m not very good at promoting myself that way, but a couple of years ago my agency forced me to go on social media and I’m glad, actually, because it’s part of the job now."

"But I’m not good at posting anything personal; I don’t want all those people that I don’t know to see what I’m doing, or where I’m eating, or where I’m going."

Anna is always very professional when it comes to her work. She scrupulously calculates fees and thinks about how she will earn a living in the future when she has to leave modelling.

Anna is interested in horseback riding and regularly visits the elite hippodrome near Paris. In addition, she practices yoga three times a week. And she loves to eat, which, fortunately, does not affect her figure.

Anna SeleznevaThis drop-dead gorgeous blue-eyed beauty does not consider herself an ideal of attractiveness. She recalls that for a long time she could not overcome certain complexes and found it hard to expose herself in front of the camera due to self-doubt. For this reason, she even missed an opportunity with the top US fashion photographer, Mario Sorrenti.

Now the girl is used to acting topless. In the Naughty video in 2008, Anna starred in an advertising video for Calvin Klein Jeans, the full version of which, due to frankly erotic content, was not allowed to go on the air in any country in the world.

A thirty-second video showing a bold sexual experiment can only be seen on disk. Supermodel Natasha Poly and a few handsome men also took part in the filming.

Anna speaks only reluctantly of her personal life. She has a young man - a Frenchman named Jean-Paul, a businessman and a party-goer. They have been together for about a year now, and, according to the Anna, everything is quite serious.

Jean-Paul even met her mother and received her approval, but he still did not want to come to Moscow. Presumably, the couple will buy a joint apartment in Paris, the city with which the careers of both is associated.

From 2008 to 2011, Anna booked a large number of shootings. Editors and photographers admired her cheekbones, slanting blue eyes and beautiful slender legs. She adorns with her beauty the most fashionable glossy magazines in the world, takes part in advertising companies: Calvin Klein, Emporio Armani, Vera Wang. The best fashion houses invite Selezneva to participate in shows: Valentino, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Lanvin.
