The XXX Olympic Summer Games being held in London starting in late July will bring together the best athletes from
countries around the world from the 27th of July through the 12th of August 2012. The following
are only a limited number of the world-class athletes that are contending for medals in the numerous athletic competitions

Olympic Torchbearers will have carried the Olympic Flame through more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages across the UK, before coming to London to light the
Cauldron at the Opening Ceremony in the Olympic Stadium officially marking the start of the XXX Summer Olympic Games.
The flame arrived in the UK from Athens, Greece on the 18th of May 2012 before setting out the following day
on a 70-day relay across England, Ireland and Scotland. The Olympic Flame will travel to within an hour of 95 per cent of
the people in the UK, the Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey during the relay. It will enable the local communities along its
path to focus attention on the best their area has to offer. By the time the flame reaches London it will have been carried
by 8,000 individuals from the United Kingdom.
