Bianca Balti

Bianca BaltiBianca Balti, born on the 19th of March 1984 in Lodi, Lombardy, Italy to Bruno Balti and Mariabice Marzani. She is an Italian model whom was first booked for the cover of L'Officiel, shot by Alexi Lubomirski.

Her first notable advertisement campaign came for Dolce & Gabbana. She has appeared on the covers of many fashion magazines, including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, W, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire, as well as men's magazine Playboy.

Her campaigns include Roberto Cavalli, Donna Karan, Christian Dior, D&G, Valentino, Armani Jeans, Missoni, Rolex, Guess?, Paco Rabanne, Anna Molinari, Guerlain, Revlon, La Perla, Cesare Paciotti, Mango, and Thierry Mugler.

Balti has also appeared shows for designers such as Shiatzy Chen, Karl Lagerfeld, Gianfranco Ferré, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Zac Posen, Hermès, John Galliano, Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Valentino, Missoni, Chanel, Christian Dior, Versace, Oscar de la Renta, Narciso Rodriguez, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera and Victoria's Secret when she appeared in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2005 and in their catalogs.

Balti was cast in Abel Ferrara's movie Go Go Tales in 2008 as one of the erotic dancers. After the movie and a pregnancy, she returned to modeling and became the new face of the Cesare Paciotti international campaign.

She replaced Angelina Jolie as one of the faces of the fall St. John campaign, with models Hilary Rhoda and Caroline Winberg.

Bianca BaltiShe appeared in the 2011 Pirelli Calendar photographed by Karl Lagerfeld and in 2011 she featured in Francesco Scognamiglio's Spring/Summer 2011 campaign art directed by Akmal Shaukat and photographed by Giampaolo Sgura.

In 2012 she was chosen as the new face for Dolce & Gabbana together with actress Monica Bellucci. She was chosen as the face of their Light Blue fragrance in 2013. She also hosted BeastMasters for Italy.

Balti was married to Italian photographer, Christian Lucidi, with whom she has a daughter named Matilde, born in 2007. They divorced in 2010 and on the 14th of April 2015, she gave birth to her second daughter, Mia McRae, with her boyfriend Matthew McRae.

They had met while she was vacationing in Marbella, Spain. They got married at the Fullerton courthouse on the 1st of August 2016. A year later, she and Matthew McRae renewed their vows in front of family and friends on the 1st of August 2017.

“I think it was meant to be, I think that was the plan God had for me. I live one day at the time and I don’t stress myself out too much thinking about what it would have been or what it will be.”

“My relationship with Dolce&Gabbana is one of deep respect. I’ve always admired their work and seeing them working so hard just made my respect grow even more."

"They own everything they have. They are hard workers, proud Italians and have the best sense of style ever. I love them and I am forever thankful to them for believing in me. I would never let them down."

Bianca Balti"They make me so proud to be the face for their brand, because they are so much more than simply a brand: they are a loving family, hard workers and great people!”

Italian model Bianca Balti was announced as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Rookie of the Year in 2017. It was shot on Sumba Island with photographer James Macari.

She says of her beauty routine: "I love to keep things simple. With a good tan and the sea salt in my hair, I feel naturally more beautiful. So, I barely wear makeup. I make sure to have a good pedicure at all times."

She always follows a pre-flight beauty ritual: "I always make sure to remove my makeup and moisturize my skin. I also apply oil in my hair to keep it hydrated during the flight." Her post flight-beauty ritual: "I'll try to hit the gym and book a massage."

Balti also has a hair routine on the road: "I always have the same approach, which is very easy going: I never blow-dry my hair, especially when I'm traveling for vacations. I love what the sea does to my hair."

Her travel workout plan: "I usually take it easy. I'm not obsessed, so I just try to stay active: take long walks, hikes, and swim. Back home, I do cardio, barre, and surf; I don't like the gym, machines, and weights so I use the natural resources of the place I'm traveling to."

"My favorite place to travel in the summer is Italy, where I go visit my family and feel like a kid again. Everything from the landscape to the smells, the food and the Mediterranean Sea takes me back to the joy of my childhood summer vacations."

Bianca BaltiHer favorite island in the world: "Capri, for its unique perfection. It's so beautiful: It takes my breath away every time."

The exquisite model has been an icon of Italian beauty in the world for years now . She is among the most sought-after during fashion weeks, but those who know her assure that she has remained a simple and genuine girl, madly in love with daughters and (new) husband.

After putting a high school diploma under her belt, Bianca Balti moved to Milan, in the Bovisa area, to attend the first year of Communication Design at the Polytechnic.

Balti initially supported herself as a representative of cosmetic products in supermarkets. She set aside a nest egg and worked quite hard.

On the 17th of June 2006 she married the photographer Christian Lucidi, with whom she had a daughter, Matilde , born in the spring of 2007. The couple divorced in 2010. Then in February 2015 she announced that she was expecting another child.

Along with the success of the Light Blue campaign came a new era in Balti’s personal life. While on holiday in Marbella, Spain, Balti met personal coach Matthew McRae, the man she would go on to marry in a civil ceremony in August 2016, and the father of her second daughter, Mia.

Mia, Bianca Balti's second daughter , was born on the following 14th of April fathered by Matthew McRae, her partner since 2014 whom she married in a ceremony at the beginning of August 2017.

After graduating from classical high school at Pietro Verri in Lodi, she began working as a full-time model. Balti initially supported herself as a representative of cosmetic products in supermarkets.

Bianca BaltiWorking as a cashier in a Milan supermarket in 2004, it was hardly the vision Balti had envisioned for herself, but having been turned down by numerous casting agents for lack of charisma and experience, a normal job was a necessary evil.

As fate would have it, it was also what placed Balti in the path of scouting agent Bruno Paulette, founder of the Milan modeling agency Brave Models.

The meeting with Bruno Paulette would change Balti’s life practically overnight, bringing her an exclusivity contract with Dolce & Gabbana only a few months later - and eventually to the 2013 Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue fragrance photoshoot that would catapult Balti to intense global fame.

Belying all previous suggestions of a lack of charisma or sex appeal, Balti positively fogged the camera lens on the beach with male supermodel David Gandy as they lounged and tangled in the exotic sunlit beaches of Capri.

Her career in the fashion world began in 2005 thanks to an exclusive contract for an international advertising campaign with Dolce & Gabbana. Soon after she participated in numerous advertising campaigns, among which, in addition to those for Dolce & Gabbana, were Missoni, Rolex, Paul Smith, Revlon, Guess, Donna Karan and many, many others.

In 2007 she is the face of the Black XS fragrance by Paco Rabanne, for which she is the center of a high-rotation television commercial.

After a film break and the birth of her daughter, she moved her residence from Italy to New York to resume her modeling career. She appears on the cover of the French edition of Playboy in June/July 2009 issue.

Bianca BaltiIn September 2009 she advertises the perfume Bellissima by Blumarine and appears on the cover of First magazine. In 2010 she replaced the Russian model Irina Shayk doing a testimonial of the Intimissimi brand.

At the end of 2011 she was chosen by L'Oréal as the new international spokesmodel, alongside Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Gwen Stefani, Andie MacDowell and Jane Fonda.

In the March 2012 issue of Vogue Japan she appears on the cover and in 2017 she made her debut in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, winning the Rookie of the Year award - an award given to first-time models.

She is then confirmed as the face of the OVS campaign and is the protagonist, together with David Gandy, of the international campaign of the new Dolce and Gabbana Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense fragrance, signed by Mario Testino.

In June 2017 she becomes a designer creating a collection of costumes inspired by the 1960's , exclusively for an online platform of fashion, luxury and design goods.

Since the end of 2015, Balti has been committed to supporting the work of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

On the 1st of December 2016, on the occasion of the charity event, Another Brick in the Wall, in Milan, UNHCR Italy gave her a plaque of thanks to celebrate a year of commitment for refugees.

Bianca BaltiGrowing up in a flat above her father's magazine distribution offices, the young Bianca Balti was inspired to dream as many have dreamed before her, though they found only an impossible fantasy. But in retrospect,

The young Italian beauty, enduring childhood bullying for her unusual height and sculpted face, seemed destined for a life far beyond the Italian town of Lodi where she grew up.

It was a life Balti felt calling as she looked at the glossy fashion magazines in her father's office and soon was to pursue after moving to Milan to attend university as a graphic design student.

At first it was a fantasy that seemed to elude her grasp, but ultimately, the dream turned into reality for Balti.

Her dream was to see herself travel the globe as a top Italian supermodel and be the most recognized muse of Dolce & Gabbana, and as an Ambassador for Paris L'Oreal.

Bianca Balti reminesced about dealing with her post-baby body while working as a swimsuit model. “It was a challenge, but it’s also a pleasure, because we are lucky to have these problems!”

The Italian native says she had to double up on her workouts after the birth of her second daughter. “As soon as I gave birth I had like 20 kilos, which I think is about 50 lbs., and I realized, oh my gosh, in one month I have a photoshoot,”

Bianca Balti“So I had to lose a lot, and you know, it doesn’t really happen in just one month. So it took me almost a year because I think realistically it does take about a year.”

“But it empowered me a lot, because I was training twice a day, and then going back to my baby, sleeping with the baby, and I did it and I felt empowered like I never had before.”

Though she was a “Rookie” that particular year, the 32-year-old Balti says modeling for Sports Illustrated magazine fulfills a longtime dream.

“The age of 32 in modeling years is like being 60 - “I’m kidding, but like Christie Brinkley, I've been breaking these boundaries. It’s amazing because I’ve done so many of these things I’ve always wanted to do - almost everything in my career."

"And now, at 32, I didn’t expect this. I wanted to be in the magazine for so long, and finally I was there. And plus, I was Rookie of the Year! It’s amazing.”

She wants this achievement to show to her daughters that anything is possible. “They can do whatever they want, if you really want something, you visualize it and you go for it, and with me it happens all the time,"

“I just want them to feel like they can be whatever they want. They can be mothers, or they can choose not to have kids, for example. But they have to work for sure!”
