Luna Bijl, born on the 4th of February, 1998 in Amsterdam. She is a top Dutch fashion model. She is known as one of late designer Karl Lagerfeld’s muses.
Bijl currently ranks as one of the "Top 50" models in the fashion industry. In 2018, she appeared on 8 Vogue covers, including Vogue Paris.
Bijl debuted at Spring/Summer 2016 fashion week. In her "breakout" 2017 season, she walked for designers such as Alexander Wang, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel.
In 2016, she was on the cover of Vogue Paris twice making her the first model to appear twice in one year. Bijl has done campaigns for Emporio Armani, Chloé, Mango, Zara, Louis Vuitton, and TOM FORD.
Bijl was nominated for models.com’s "Model of the Year" in 2017.

She worked with David Sims on an issue for VOGUE, what did Luna feel it was like to shoot with him?
The shoot was a lot of fun because Emmanuelle and the rest of the team were so nice and sweet! I loved shooting with David because he's very focused on getting the best results possible which I respect 100%.
We also communicated with each other very well which I think is super important on a shoot. You have to understand each other. I learned a lot from him.
What are your ultimate modeling goals?
My ultimate modeling goal is make iconic pictures which people are still talking and thinking about when I'm older. I am so ready for more!
Which supermodel do you look up to?
Gisele Bündchen.
Describe your perfect day off when you are not modeling?
My perfect day off would probably be swimming at a lake with my friends, followed by a good barbecue.
What is your beauty routine?
I always contour my cheekbones and finish with highlighter. Then I brush my eyebrows, curl my lashes and that's it.
What do you do to stay in shape?
I'm aware of what I eat. I also do kickboxing and go to the gym almost every day. There's also the small things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
I’ve had to change what I eat - It’s just part of the job. Some people have to study to stay in their job, I have to watch what I eat and work out, it’s how it is.
I have a personal trainer at home, one in Paris and one in New York, I do a lot of interval training and a lot of boxing. I am on a diet but I don’t only eat salad. If I’m hungry, I’ll eat, and if I want cake, then I’ll eat cake. I’m not going to starve myself – I think that’s torture.
What is your go-to outfit for daytime?
My go-to outfit would be a simple, elegant dress with a leather jacket and sneakers. During the day, my look is quite sporty and casual, so I like to mix things up after-dark by going for something a bit sexier.
I have a lot of party dresses by Redemption; they’re super short and quite OTT with big ’80s shoulder pads. My favorite heels are a pair of simple, black Saint Laurent stilettos that I’ve had for years.
They’ve been to a lot of parties because even though they look really high, they’re actually super comfortable – perfect for dancing all night long.
Do you feel more like a city person or a country person?
I grew up in the countryside so I am definitely a country girl, but I love that there are so many opportunities and open-minded people in the city.
I live between New York and my hometown in the Netherlands, and my life changes completely depending on where I am. When I’m in the city, I have a real routine. If I’m not on a job, I’ll get up and grab a juice or coffee before working out.
When I’m at home, I literally live in sweatpants and just hang out with my friends and family and take my dog for walks. It’s nice to have that contrast, I’m not the girl that lives in New York 100 percent of the time, or the girl that lives in the Netherlands 100 percent of the time
Name three things on your bucket list.
I would love to go skydiving one day and learn how to surf. I also really want to live in Hawaii for a while.
You are passionate about motocross, how did that start?
My dad rode motocross all his life and so did his dad, so I guess it's just in my blood. I was around 12 when I started doing competitions in quadcross. I went to motocross every weekend and that was a big part of my life.
I was always covered in dirt and always one of the guys. Now I ride motocross with my dad just for fun when we have free time. I can't imagine my life without it, I am just addicted to the feeling and the adrenaline.
What is your relationship with photography?
I never expected it, but I really like shooting photographs. The moment I get in front of the subject, I am in a different world. I love creating a picture that people will look at for hours and which will make them think.
I would never allow myself to not do my best at a shoot because I just really care about what I do. If people put their trust in me I don't want them to regret it!

The Notebook.

I collect fluffy animals.

My favorite food is rosti - potato with melted cheese and ham.

Fresh strawberry lemonade.
What is your favorite season?
Summer. I love being outside, being active and wearing cute outfits where I can have bare legs.
If you could go back to the past and change something, what would it be?
I would have paid more attention in French class in school, so I could speak it now!
