Ağva - TurkeyAğva
Ağva, the pearl of the Black Sea has unprecedented beauty, a blue sea, fresh air and excellent fish. Although officially called Yesilçay it is still known as Ağva. It has become a top preference for people who would like to get away from the noise of the city and have a peaceful vacation, not only in the spring and summer, but now also during winter months is 97 kilometers from Istanbul. Probably the most attractive parts of the town, which was established on the delta between the rivers of Goksu and Yesilçay and which stems from the Cal Tepe of Izmit, are the green coastlines of these rivers. Hotels and restaurants have been established and all the activities of the region take place here. Ağva is a town which was a transitional point for many civilizations such as the Hittites, Phrygians, Romans and Ottomans. It is possible to come across the remnants of the history dating back to the seventh century BC in the surrounding villages. In Kalemkoy there are church ruins and gravestones belonging to the Romans. In Hacıllı village is the Gurlek Cave discovered around the end of the 3rd century. A castle remains located in Hisar Tepe and the mountain mill in the Sungurlu quarter are also important sites. The Turkmen tribes, who came from Konya, Karaman and Balikesir, settled in Agva during the second half of the 14th century. The contemporary residents of Ağva are the offspring of those Turkmen tribes.

Ağva has a 3 kilometer long seaside on the coast of the Black Sea with a natural beach, undiscovered bays, small isles and forests. Kilim Bay, Gelin Kayası (Bride Rock) and Saklı Gol (Hidden Lake) are places which must be visited. Gelin Kayası is called so called due to its white color and that it resembles a bride with a veil. Fishermen interested in fishing the coast of Ağva will find that fish are abundant here. Because the coast is on the Black Sea every kind of fish can be found here. There are fishing boats in the center of Ağva where you can have a conversation with the fishermen, drink tea and even go on fishing trips with them. You can always find the fresh fish of the season in the area restaurants.

In Ağva water sports can be enjoyed in the summer and winter with canoeing in the river and sea cycling in warm weather and enjoy fitness activities in the winter such as trekking and hunting. Ağva is extremely favorable for activities like walking in the forest, running, biking and camping and in addition is ideal for those who would like to cool off in the waters of the Black Sea during the summer. Ağva is a shelter for turtles, gazelles, wolves, hyenas, wild boars, foxes, squirrels and many bird species, especially kingfishers, which makes it an appropriate atmosphere for hunting. Breathe the fresh air, walk on the beach and enjoy delicious fish in the restaurants and experience the coastline and the river.
