Piper PeraboPiper Perabo, born on the 31st of October, 1976 in Dallas, Texas is an American stage, film and television actress. Following her breakthrough role in Coyote Ugly back in 2000, she has appeared in films such as Lost and Delirious in 2001, Cheaper by the Dozen in 2003, Cheaper by the Dozen 2 in 2005, The Prestige in 2006, Beverly Hills Chihuahua in 2008 and Looper in 2012.

Other films include The I Inside in 2003, Perfect Opposites in 2004, George and the Dragon in 2004, The Cave in 2005, Imagine Me & You in 2005, Edison in 2005. Perabo has played Annie Walker on the USA Network series Covert Affairs since 2010, for which she has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. She appeared as a nutritionist on the Fox show House, in an episode entitled Resignation.

Perabo's mother is a physical therapist, and her father, a professor of poetry at Ocean County College. She is of English, German, Irish and Norwegian descent. She grew up in Toms River, New Jersey where her parents named her after actress Piper Laurie. She is the oldest of three children and has two brothers, Noah ,born 1979, and Adam who was born 1981.

After graduating from Toms River High School North in 1994, she earned a bachelor's degree in theater from Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University in 1998. There she also studied Latin, Physics, and Poetry in her senior year.

Piper PeraboWhen Perabo was in high school, she appeared in all four yearly musicals. During her senior year, she was Katie in Meet Me In St. Louis;in her junior year, Cousin Fan in Mame; in her sophomore year, Lady Brighton in Me and My Girl; and during her freshman year, a dancer in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

In high school, she was the president of National Honor Society and the editor of the school literary magazine, Polaris. She was a member of the Marinerettes as a dancer in the half-time show during the football games. She graduated with a theater degree summa cum laude from Ohio University in 1998.

Perabo's first exposure to the industry was a year before she graduated from university when she was in New York City, visiting her then-boyfriend. She happened to accompany him to an audition where casting director Denise Fitzgerald spotted her and asked her to read for a part.

Even though she was not cast for that part, when Fitzgerald found out that she didn't have any representation, she made phone calls on Perabo's behalf and found her an agent.

After graduation, Perabo moved to New York City, where she worked as a waitress. She also studied acting at the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club and was cast for roles in various plays.

Perabo was cast in her first feature film only a month after moving to the city - Marc Levin's comedy Whiteboyz. In 2000, she was cast in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle as FBI agent Karen Sympathy.

Piper PeraboBut her next film role was in Coyote Ugly as Violet "Jersey" Sanford, for which she won an MTV Movie Award for Best Music Moment for One Way or Another.

After the success of Coyote Ugly, Perabo made a conscious decision to move away from blockbusters and focus on independent films. In 2001, she starred in an independent Canadian drama called Lost and Delirious, playing a boarding school student who falls in love with a female classmate.

The film was met with mixed reviews, but her performance was widely praised - with Loren King of the Chicago Tribune calling it her breakout performance.

Entertainment Weekly's Owen Gleiberman called her "an actress of glittering ferocity" and her performance "a geyser of emotion". Jim Lane of the Sacramento News & Review said that "Perabo is a revelation, wild and fiery – it's a breakthrough performance, astonishing in its fervency", and Roger Ebert praised her performance for its sincerity and "wonderful abandon and conviction".

The next year she starred as a French exchange student in the independent comedy Slap Her... She's French, which was shelved in North America for two years, then released under the new title She Gets What She Wants. The film was released under its original title in Europe.

In 2008, Perabo made her Off-Broadway debut in the Neil LaBute play Reasons to Be Pretty.

Piper PeraboAs the play's run was coming to an end, she read the script for the USA Network television spy series Covert Affairs:

"I was reading movie scripts and I wasn't finding anything that was really speaking to me and my agent suggested that I read the Covert Affairs script. And I hadn't thought about doing television, but when I read it, it kind of changed everything for me. She's such a powerful character, she's so smart, the action is so intense, and I really thought it would be fun to do."

The following year, she was officially cast as CIA agent Annie Walker, the lead character in Covert Affairs.

In August 2010, Perabo injured her knee filming an episode of Covert Affairs. After the finale of the first season it was announced that the second season would begin in summer of 2011.

For her work on Covert Affairs, she received a nomination for the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama. Perabo broke her leg the day before shooting finished for the second season finale of Covert Affairs.

In September 2012, Perabo had a supporting role in the time travel thriller Looper.

Piper PeraboIn December 2012, she was cast as a recurring character on the sitcom Go On. Her character, Simone, is a former member of the support group that Matthew Perry's character is a member of, returning to the group and becoming a love interest of his. Perabo was originally scheduled to appear in three episodes, but it was increased to four.

Perabo next had a starring role in the thriller Endangered. In 2013, Perabo became engaged to Stephen Kay, a director of the show Covert Affairs, in which Perabo stars.

Perabo has been close friends with actress Lena Headey since they starred together in the 2005 films The Cave and Imagine Me & You. She is the sister of Noah Perabo and has a younger brother, Adam Perabo, who also attended Ohio University.

On July 26th, 2014 Perabo married her boyfriend of 3 years director Stephen Kay in New York City following a 10-month-long engagement. They met each other while working together on Covert Affairs.

She speaks fluent French, and is an advocate of LGBT rights. She is the part-owner of the prohibition-themed bar Employees Only in the West Village in Manhattan, which opened in 2005, and the restaurant Jack's Wife Freda in SoHo, Lower Manhattan, which opened in 2012.

Piper PeraboIn her own words:

"Any time I'm playing opposite somebody in a love relationship, if I know them it's easier, because I know how much I can trust them."

"I think that you love who you love, and there are people who you love that people aren't going to understand why, and that sort of doesn't really matter. To me, a great love story is a great love story, and it doesn't matter what gender is involved."

"I walked into the audition for Coyote Ugly and was like, 'I'm from New Jersey, I work in a bar, I play guitar - there's no reason you shouldn't give me this part.' - And it worked!".

Meet Annie Walker played by Piper Perabo from Coyote Ugly - smart, stunning and the CIA's newest field operative in one of their most secretive branches. Suddenly summoned by headquarters for active duty one month before training is over, she's quickly thrown into a shadowy world full of cons, killers and international crime rings. What she doesn't know is there's something or someone from her past that her bosses want badly enough to put her in harm's way. She just has to survive long enough to find out why.
The bar dancing scenes in Coyote Ugly are incredible accompanied by a fantastic soundtrack including, "Pour Some Sugar on Me". Plus there are two new great songs from LeAnn Rimes, who is also in the movie.
The film is an anglo-american-german co-production, filmed in England with a largely English cast. Piper Perabo does a good job with a creditable English accent which apart from an occasional slip, is largely believable. Rachel (Piper Perabo) is struck by a case of love-at-first-sight on her wedding day. Unfortunately it isn't for her handsome, sweet, kindly, husband-to-be but the female florist who's been hired for the occasion. Confused at first, she befriends the florist who does understand her feelings and reciprocates whole-heartedly.
