Ashley Greene

Ashley GreeneAshley Michele Greene, born February 21st, 1987 in Jacksonville, Florida is an American actress and model, best known for playing Alice Cullen in the film adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight novels. She is the daughter of Michele, who works in insurance, and Joe Greene, a U.S. Marine who now owns his own concrete business. She grew up in Middleburg and Jacksonville, and went to University Christian School before transferring to Wolfson High School when she was in her sophmore year. At the age of 17, Ashley moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. She has an older brother named Joe who continues to reside in Jacksonville with their parents.

She is good friends with her Twilight co-stars, particularly Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone whom she knew before filming of the series began. Ashley has stated the she grew up watching football and is a Florida Gators fan and has also been seen attending a Green Bay Packers game against the New York Giants with Jonas and Jessica Szohr at Lambeau Field in 2010. In 2009, nude self portraits of Greene were leaked onto the internet and her attorneys threatened to sue the various websites that published the pictures.

Ashley GreeneHer initial plans were to become a model, but she was told that she was not tall enough at 5'5" to be a fashion model and therefor should instead direct her focus on acting in commercials. After taking commercial and acting classes, she fell in love with acting and realized that she preferred it over modeling. Ashley graduated from high school early and moved to L.A. to pursue an acting career and she has appeared as a guest on such television programs, as Punk'd and Crossing Jordan. Her big break came in 2008 when she was cast as Alice Cullen in Twilight, a film based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer. She reprised her role as Alice in the 2009 sequel to Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, 2010's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, 2011's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, 2012's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. Ashley portrayed Michelle Burkham in the drama film Skateland, which premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. She also reunited with her Twilight co-star Kellan Lutz in the movie A Warrior's Heart and also starred in the thriller film, Summer's Blood, as well as the Dark Castle Entertainment production of The Apparition, which began filming on February 1, 2010. She appeared nude in a bodypainted bikini when posing for SoBe advertisements that ran in the 2010 issue of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. She received 'The Style Icon Award' at the Hollywood Life Young Hollywood Awards this year and was also presented an award from the PETA Foundation for representing Avon and their no testing on animals policy. Ashley herself presented an award at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12th, 2010.

Ashley GreeneAshley is a self-confessed tomboy and 'daredevil' who always loved to try to keep up with her older brother Joe with activities such as taekwondo in which she won several awards. Ashley says she was not allowed to spar with the girls in taekwondo class because she would 'beat the girls up'. She even once accidentally gave a boy she liked a bloody nose and lip while sparring. According to Ashley she is a 'competitive little sucker'. During her early teen years, Ashley found herself hanging out with older girls, which impacted her self-esteem when she found them to be more mature and, in her mind, prettier than she was. Ashley described herself as a "hot mess" when she was a teenager. Ashley's mother put her into modeling classes to improve her self confidence, and Ashley began to consider becoming a model as a career, but after she was told she was too short to be a model, Ashley considered becoming a lawyer and getting a degree in psychology.

She actually convinced her parents to let her leave her private school to attend a public one which had a law and psychology program. However, after taking a commercial class, which led to acting class, Ashley knew what she wanted to do. Luckily for Ashley, her parents were supportive and allowed her to move to LA at seventeen years of age. Due to her excellent grades and extra credits, she was able to graduate high school early to follow her dream of acting. For three years, Ashley struggled to find acting parts. She picked up small roles here and there in TV shows such as Punk'd in 2003 and Crossing Jordan in 2001, and some very small film roles in Shrink in 2009 and King of California in 2007.

Ashley GreeneAshley's big break came when she got to audition for the film Twilight in 2008. She originally auditioned for Bella, but, as she says herself - "I was no Bella".

She was called back to audition for the role of Alice Cullen. After a long auditioning process, Ashley was finally told that she had gotten the part. Ashley had previously worked in restaurants but, like the rest of her fellow Twilight cast-mates, Ashley found herself suddenly thrust into the limelight. Though she says she doesn't get the same kind of insanity as the boys - especially Robert Pattinson. She says most fans relate to her on a 'best friend' level rather than screaming at her hysterically. Ashley has already begun filming other roles and has high hopes for her career outside of the Twilight franchise. She has said she wants to be a superhero, a Bond girl and possibly Wonder Woman in future projects.

She adores Audrey Hepburn and, as a result, one of her all-time favorite movies is Breakfast at Tiffany's made in 1961. Ashley is the face of StopStaring.com, a website that sells retro-style dresses. She Studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute, was ranked #17 in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in the World of 2011 and was considered one of the 55 faces of the future by Nylon Magazine's Young Hollywood Issue.

Ashley GreeneOn how her life has changed since Twilight debuted:

"As an actor you want people to know you and there are times you want your pictures taken, but it's unnerving to walk out of a venue with friends and there are 20 people flashing lights in your face. Do you know how bright those lights are?"

"My whole outlook has changed. You go into rooms with producers and directors and you're so nervous, and you're thinking these are big, bad studio heads and they want you to fail. Then you do something like this, and you can walk into these rooms and they want to know what you think, what you want to do, how you view their script. I go into these rooms now, sit down, and have conversations with these people, which is what I should have been doing from the beginning. It's a different world."

"My life is a crazy whirlwind right now. I'm just working and working and working. With the success of the film, there are a lot of things you get offered, places people want you to go just to have you there, and I really haven't been able to do that. Between this and other films, I've just been working. You know, I was a struggling actor, and I was modeling to pay bills. I was worried about rent, and I was living with two other people. To go from that to me going, 'I need a break, I need a day off', is a crazy thing. It's good, and it's tiring, but my mom being able to see what I'm doing every single day on the Internet? It's crazy! From nobody really knowing or really caring who you are or what you do to suddenly making headlines with what you're eating, where you're going, who you're hanging out and having coffee with is nuts. But I guess it helps when I'm walking into these rooms with directors and producers, all of a sudden, they know who I am. That's the craziest thing. I don't think I'm going to be pigeonholed. If I always played the hot, stupid chick, then I might be pigeonholed as that. I get to kind of choose my films, which hopefully I will choose wisely and build off of that versus pissing the fans off."

Ashley Greene"To audition for the role of Alice Cullen in Twilight, it was a really long, tedious process. I hadn't read the books, so I read them because they wouldn't release the script or breakdown. My manager told me to go into the audition and to do a good job and not to mess up because the casting directors were sticklers. So, I was like, 'How am I supposed to do a good job? I don't even know what I'm supposed to be playing!' I originally auditioned for Bella, and so I read the first book and kind of fell in love with it. I went in and auditioned and actually they called me back in and said, 'No, you're not right for Bella', so I was bummed, and then they brought me back for Alice. I worked more on it - that was all I did for a couple of days before I went in. I came in probably like five times before I actually got the role - and then I went home for Christmas and literally just had to wait and wait. I thought that I didn't get it again, and then I got the call that I was Alice and I freaked out and called my dad and mom."

"Now it's kind of laughable because it's amazing that people are so intrigued by who I have lunch with and whatnot. This is my thing: If I was in a relationship with someone that I really cared about, it would upset me if they speculated something about me and someone else because that other person has to read it. That's the part which I haven't encountered yet because I'm not in a relationship, but I'm just waiting for it - and then I'm sure I'll hate it. It's something I have to get used to, I guess. It's all apart of this job. It's like the little fine print of dating me - 'You will now be thrown into this Twilight whirlwind.' The fans embrace everything that we do, so if I started dating some guy they would probably embrace him too."

Ashley GreeneAshley has just been announced to play Priscilla Presley in the upcoming Elvis biopic Shangra-La Suite according to Deadline Hollywood. Shangra-La Suite, directed by Eddie O'Keefe, stars Boardwalk Empire's Ron Livingston as Elvis Presley. But according to Deadline Hollywood, the film is not a study of Elvis's courtship of the young Priscilla. It's set in 1974 and focuses on two troubled 20-year-olds who set out to kill The King. It follows two young lovers who meet in a mental hospital with the Bonnie & Clyde-esque pair determined to fulfill what one believes is his destiny - to kill Elvis Presley.

Joining Greene's Presley in the movie and presumably taking on the Bonnie and Clyde-esque role in the film are actors Emily Browning and Luke Grimes. Also joining Greene will be Avan Jogia, the actor best known for his role in Nickelodeon's hit suspense show Twisted.

Ashley is coming off her performance in the Kickstarter funded, Zach Braff directed film Wish I Was Here. Ashley actually replaced her fellow Twilight cohort Anna Kendrick for the role in the Braff film, which is receiving kudos from critics after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

Wish I Was Here, also starring Jim Parsons, Kate Hudson, Mandy Patinkin, Josh Gad, Joey King and Pierce Gagnon alongside Greene is a comedy/drama co-written by Zach's brother Adam. Greene plays Janine, a young woman into Cosplay.
